Rough Starting

I have a 1999 XLT 5.4 4wd and in the motor is now very hard to start in the morning when its cold. If I rev a few times then it will idle ok. It used to just start by turning the key and it would idle perfect. Is there a temp sensor I could check?

Yah, definately sounds like IAC, I had the exact same thing, would start then die a few times before it would start. Then when it did start it never really idled right. Cleaned my IAC and it fires right up now and runs smooth.

Heres the how to: http://www.fordf150.net/forums/viewt...er=asc&start=0

Did you just clean your IAC or did you pull the entire TB as shown?

I think it wise to remove the throttle body and clean it. I would just replace the IAC there only 50 bucks at auto zone. Cleaning the throttle body WILL make your truck run better on top of having an idle control that works. It all maintenance stuff that get overlooked..

I pulled the throttle body to make everything easier to work with.

That's much easier , you can do it without removing the TB and elbow , but it's a PITA. If you haven't cleaned the TB, elbow and ports in awhile , nows a good time..
