Question Remote oil filter lines leaking

I found my truck has been leaking some oil in the driveway, but it really started to concern me the last time I did an oil change and it was 1 quart low. I think it's leaking from the remote oil filter lines. I have wiped them off but they keep getting covered in oil again.

Has anyone else had to replace these? I heard they are expensive from Ford, is there any place that sells them online?

This is on a 99 F-150 5.4

I just found the same thing on my 99 F-150 4.6. Awhile back they were leaking, but then sealed themselves. Now they are leaking again and it looks like they will have to be replaced. ~$230 from Ford...

I wonder if this is something that you could get at Autozone, Napa, etc? I tried several online Ford parts websites, such as http://www.fordpartsonline.com/, but I'm unable to find these oil lines on there. Most all the Ford parts sites seem to be looking at the same database because the search is identical.

Has anyone found an alternative replacement for these lines? $286 from the dealers up here.

My brother and I pulled the lines off, and there are o-rings that fit on the block side, which I thought were causing the leak since we pressured the lines up to 80psi, under water with no leaks. It must be leaking under heat + hydro pressure.

Have you ever given thought to making your own hoses from aftermarket parts? We had to in the dyno and on the race car.

I might have to do that. My brother's a hydraulics plummer, and the lines don't need to be high pressure. Wonder if I could get away with hose clamps.

I NEVER trust hose clamps on oil pressure lines. They were all swaged on or terminated by me.

my old '99 had the same problem. Go to any farmers store or hydraulic shop. Anything from co-op, tsc, or whatever you have local or even a CAT Dealer or New Holland. Doesnt matter, it will cost less than $50 and you can get quality lines made up.
The best way, take your old lines off... and get exact matches made.
I promise it will be cheep and out live you truck.
no need for high quality lines, you oil system will be max 90psi, avg like 60psi.

Thanx I forgot about that one. We used to get the parts and accessories we used for tests when they were over. Each test required a different setup so we would order in bulk and make our own.
