98 4.6 thoughts?
Hi new to the site. I am thinking of purchasing a 98 150sc, 4wd, xlt, auto, 4.6 with 60000 miles. What do you guys think of this truck and engine? I know this is a ford site but I was wondering what kind of problems to expect or positives about this combo. No heavy towing or hauling just an extra vehicle for off road and hunting. Thanks.

That is a very low mileage truck. I have 180k on my 4.6 2wd. I LOVE IT!
If you are not expecting the next fastes't truck and the price is right it will not do you wrong.
Replace the plugs and wires every 60k miles. (MOTORCRAFT parts!) Keep the oil changed and the tranny filter and fluids changed and you have a life long companion. I do not advise any heavy loads, (over 1/2 ton anyways).
EGR codes are probable with this truck, but, an easy fix.
Mine had to have a tranny replaced, BUT, it was due to ABUSE from the previous owner. (had it 3k miles and it went out)
Take care of it and it will take care of you! I do stress changing the plugs and wires every 60k though. It seems like mine, 60k on the dot, starts acting funny. I replace plugs and wires and am good for another
60k.
