Where Would You 6 Buy a Rebuilt Engine?

I need a rebuilt engine for a 98 F-150 4.6L. What would be a fair price for rebuilt or a reman?
Would you use a Ford dealer or an independent shop?
Ford vs Jasper?
How much to expect for installation?
Any responses are greatly appreciated.
I live in GA near ATL
Thanks

why not get one out of a totaled truck? if you got one out of a truck with less than 100k on it you would get an engine that will last another 150k your truck is a 98 its not going to last forever...

pull one from a wreck. It will be much cheaper, and probably last as long as you need. You can also do the swap yourself in a weekend. I would guess it would cost $800 -$1000 for a decent engine, plus $300-$400 for tools and new fluids (engine hoist and basic hand tools). If you have it done at a shop, I would figure $800- $1000 in labor.

If you do get a remanufactured engine, go with Jasper.

A U-PULL motor will be fine for ya!

I also begg to differ about the longevity of the truck. They will last as long as you let them.

If you plan on keeping this thing till the wheels fall off, get a reman.

If you want to fixer-up, and sell it, get a U-PULL and sell it (or trade). Just give me the VIN so I dont buy it. LMAO Just kidding.

It all depends on YOUR plans for the truck.

MINE- well, that will be a toy after I get my 09. And then I plan to put either a 460 or a 418 in it. BUt it will not matter because it will be expendable at that point. I may just get the 4.6 from here http://www.seanhylandmotorsport.com/ and say the heck with it.

Just depends on your plans and taste! But a used motor won't do you wrong! IMO

Good Luck!

Yup - get a used - I would put a 5.4L in it myself , it's pretty easy.

Try car-part.com . - They do an engine search for you after putting in your zip.. Throw your zip in there and they try to locate an engine close to home for yuh..

Thanks for all responses. I think I will go with a used motor.
