$1000 mods

ok, i have given myself about $1000 to spend on mods in the next couple of months. i'm thinking of a bbk throttle body, granatelli maf, hellwig sway bar and programmer?. what do ya'll think and what order should i purchase them in?

i'm basically trying to get a little more efficiency(performance, power, mpg etc.) out of this gutless "modular" thing fomoco passes off as an engine. currently i get around 15 mpg normally in a mix of city and highway driving, with an all time high of 16.5 mpg on pure highway driving. as far as speed, it has none, the k&n fipk i put on a month after i bought this truck has done nothing that i can tell for the gutless wonder.

any and all replies are appreciated, i just want to get some of ya'lls opinions, because this is still the best forum for f-series that i have found. i know i haven't posted very much, but i read a tremendous amount, and i can hardly discern what is good and what is bad.

Call Mike Troyer and get a X2cal. Best thing I ever did for my truck. They can also help you get a custome tune with your fipk, maf and throttle body.

What motor do you have?

I disagree with the intake though I think he already has one. That's a waist IMHO.

With a grand and a stock 99 .

AF1, A nice Cat Back and Tuner.. All from Troyer .

That's a nice start . Troyer can set you up with the perfect tune.

Those three combined, you'll get your moneys worth..

If you had 2 grand - Add.. Dynatech Headers and HF Magnaflows X pipe ..

3 grand - Add - Underdrive pullys - E-Fans..

I could keep going , but your already out of $$$

You don't need true duals for power - headers alone = 30hp

If you open up the exhaust too much you will start to kill the power on these motors. They need a good amount of backpressure in the exhaust to make power, and even if you do manage to get a power gain, it will most likely add a little to the top end, and take some from the bottom end where its more useful. A good setup for exhaust would be a single out catback. A true double would make it too open.

There is plenty of threads about this already, but if you go to the chips-tuners-and programmers section of this forum, you can read all about them. https://www.f150online.com/forums/chips-tuners-programming-34/

Here is Troyers website as well.
