Fuel filter help!!

I've never had a problem w/ changing fuel filters on any other vehicle until I tried to change mine in my 5.4 last night. I got the tool from autozone that supposedly releases the hoses but it didnt work. Is there some special trick i'm missing or is there any other tools out there that might work better. The tool I got opens up like an X and fits over the line then you close it and it makes a ring around the line and you're supposed to push in the hose to release whatever is holding the hose on the line. Any other tools out there or ideas that might help??
THanks a lot:santa:

I had changed my filter 3 times previously, each taking about 10 minutes, and that includes jacking up the side for easier access. Well, the 4th time I tried to change the filter, I made 3 different attempts and the outlet side just would not release. The inlet side came free just fine. It was suggested on here that it was because I was using the metal X type tool as well, and that I would have better luck with the plastic tool. I purchased that and it was no better. Finally, I took it to a lube place and they ended up pulling the internal clamp out of the line. They finally got it to release but it would not reclamp. They put in some type of clamp that replaces what was in there. Now, I just hope what they put in works with the tools and releases.
