Changing out COP(Coil) #7 pictures

Hey guys,

I've been reading thread about changing COP#7 was one of the difficult to do. After reading threads which help me attempt to replace my own COPS, in result was successful. So I decided to share my info in return.
My truck started to startle or engine shakes when accelerating. I connected my diagnostic handheld and it showed error 0307 which which means its cylinder #7 misfire. Went to carquest and got COP (non OEM) because I had to get it right away and had no other vehicle and needed it asap. I will replace all OEM COPS and Plugs with new OEM part in the spring once winter is over. Since it was like 17 degrees outside I tried to minimize disconnecting and removing other part of the engine.

Tools I used:

Another tool I used due to I wasnt tall enough to reach into the engine I used my wife's patio chair to stand on:

Engine with the plastic cover off:

I disconnect this hose, it was in my way:

More pictures to come.

I also disconnect this hose, it was blocking my view of the #7 coil:

This is where I find a pathway to the 7mm bolt underneath the pressure thingy:

I started to unscrew the 7mm bolt with the 7mm swivel:

Closer look:

Old vs New coil:

Adding dielectric grease to the Coil:

Inserting Coil: I thought this was the hardest part trying to line up the bolt and being carefull not to drop the bolt into the engine.

Video of me using 7mm swivel to screw the 7mm bolt back on the coil:

Overall it was really easy, took my about an hour. My wife was not happy when she found out I used her patio chair.

Great!! Keep posten .. Hey , did that rubber collar with the 2 band clamps between the TB and intake tube come with the AF1 kit?

Did you pull the boot from the coil and grease the inside at all?

Nice vid!! It looked cold ..

Thanx.

Actually I dont remember if the rubber collar comming with the AF1 kit is uncluded or not. Its been a while, I will have to take a look at my factory intake and see how it was set up before. I did not have to buy any extra accesories for the AF1 intake. I bought it the same time with my sido magnaflow exhaust, tuner and it works great together.

I just put alot of dielectric grease on the tip and inside the coil boot.

Nice video. Where was the camera?
I swapped my #7 for #1 last week diagnosing a code. I removed the fuel rail to gain access. My Procharger is in the way so I cannot easily get to the side of the engine like you did.

I always pull the rail when working on the COP's - unless it's just the first couple .. I wish I had JMC's problem!!! Working around a Procharger - that's gotta be tough.. BUT !! I wouldn't mind

I should make a video of me checking the oil on a hot engine. What a PITA!

LOL - even more so if you had a 4six dipstick tube as I do - My 5.4L tube rusted and that's all I had handy. That short little 4six tube.. It's a PITA checkin the oil without a supercharger in the way..

A 3/8 inch drive drill will make short order of those 7mm cop bolts. I have a 3/8 cordless with multiple torque settings that I like to use. I lost the adapter that fits in the chuck and has a 3/8 fitting for sockets so I need to pick one up before I change the Cops again.

Funny you asked, I was holding the camera in the other hand and leaning on my chest and stomach..it was uncomfortable but its worth it.

I found it easiest to just use a small extension on the swivel socket from behind that hoopdedooer. I found it easier than #4
