Sorry about your loss, but you need to take the responsibility as it falls on you, and solely you for not making sure the guy you bought it from maintained the vehicle properly.
i bought my 97 used . ford hunted it down and sent me a recall notice
i think i've had 3 different ones.

Awesome. That speaks volumes for Ford...BUT, you can't EXPECT Ford to be responsible for that. Period.

i think they are resposible for the product period. this is a safety issue. not a mechanical breakdown. If it has been in a ford shop and that shop didn't catch the recall they can be named also

Uh, yes i am... If i have a bill of sale, and my VIN reads from ford, they should make sure that any recall notice that hasn't been taken care of prior to me buying it is known about. That too much to ask or am i just putting too much trust into a company?

It has nothing to do with trust in Ford, it has to do with you failing to take responsibility for your own assets/safety. If I purchased a used vehicle, especially one with a fairly well known issue like that...I would be damn sure to check into it and make sure it had been taken care of before I put it in my driveway/garage.

Do you seriously think that Ford should have to keep track of the transfer of ownership of the truck and continue to track down each new owner until it is taken care of? What if 10 different people are all too lazy to get it taken care of and it keeps being sold without being fixed...you think Ford should have to keep tracking those 10 buyers and keep hassling them to get it done?

Come on people, take some freakin' responsibility already. What's next? Are you going to sue McDonald's for having hot coffee? Oh wait...

Which is what every single motor company already does...? Yes! A recall notice is something sent to people in the mail when you sell a vehicle, no matter how many times the car has been sold, hence the registration idea that we have every year or so. And for it being so "well known" there sure are plenty of cases, not to mention deaths? I took it to a mechanic the day i purchased it, did everything that needed to be done on my side.

Besides if you couldn't put the "freakin" letters together correctly, I stated it was partly Ford's fault. Like I said, i put too much trust into a multi-billion dollar company to send me a simple piece of paper informing me of such a thing.

To anyone else..
This wasn't posted to start drama with any of you, just to let anyone else that is oblivious to this recall to just check in case. :santa:

If your truck has cruise control and vacuum power assisted brakes then you are vulnerable even if the truck is only driven once a week to the store

It could happen at anytime as long as the battery is hooked up. A small brake fluid leak/spill and a curcuit that is always "hot" is to blame. The recall fix is just a jumper wire with a fuse.

my truck didn't show up on the recall link on the top of the page but when I took it into FORD they ran the VIN and gave me the upgrade (even though it looks tacky) hopefully the fuse will keep my truck from torching itself
