cooling system question
cooling system question
Should you be able to squeeze the upper radiator hose when the cooling system is at normal operating temp?
I haven't messed with cooling systems much on newer vehicles. I was always told that if you can't squeeze the upper radiator hose, the system is too hot to safely remove the radiator cap. I've noticed that I can squeeze mine with ease when it is at operating temp.
I would assume my cooling system has air in it if it isn't normal. The reservoir says the level is fine though. Is there an easy way to get air out of the system or will I have to take it somewhere?
I am wanting to drain and fill the system but I won't want air stuck in the system. I want to put the Royal Purple additive in also. I wish these new systems were easy to drain and fill like the old ones with the cap on the radiator itself.

After you drain and flush the block - refill with the top hose off. Once you see coolant start to make its way out. Connect the hose and fill to the cold line - side of the degauss bottle.
Haynes and Chilton service manuals have the procedure in print.
Good Luck
