Code 401 on 1997 F150 155k miles

I've been getting this code on my code reader for a little while now.

401 code states: Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficent Detected.

Can someone please inform me on what I should look for and possible parts replacement?

Dude do yourself a favor and first check the vacum hoses. First one is the hose that is after the pvc. It connects to the lower intake. Next is the rubber elbow that is under the tb. Goodluck Ben

Most likely - Replace your DPFE Sensor . This is a dealership Item. Third party suppliers sell these , but Ford updated recently and the dealerships carry the updated part - others don't and are prone to failure.

Another possibility is that your throttle body elbow ports are clogged (partially) and need to be cleaned .

Check your hoses (two rubber ones) as Ben mentioned above. But as said, it's usually the sensor itself that is bad.

Good Luck

So far I've cleaned the rubber tubes and checked for any cracked or loose vacuum lines, all is good. My Check Engine light remains off (for now).

I found these instructions on how to clean the TB.
