Cool 04 F150 Block Heater Help - Anybody

Just recently p/u a 2004 F150 XLT, and I am wondering where I might find the Engine Block Heater if it has one from the factory. The truck is had alot of extras on it, just wondering if it has a block heater too.

---Army Combat Engineer stuck Recruiting in Wisconsin for 1 more year. Thanks!

i think a block heater goes were the freeze plugs are. alot of people say its bad for the eninge because it only heats that one part and the block melts or something.. i dont think they do that from the factory.

Drivers side - you should be able to see it thru the wheel well opening. The freeze plug on the block towards the back..

look for the plug-in toward the front of the truck in the lower grille/bumper/ tow hook/ air dam area. hangs down there just like the super duties. three prong . i had a ranger that came with a block heater, and thats where the plug in was. some of the northern states offer the cold weather package - block heater and battery insulation.

That's too funny. I hope you don't believe that.

krazyjaybo, if it has one and has never been used the plug may be tucked up out of the way and hard to find. Just look around where the others suggested. If you don't live in a cold part of the country it probably didn't come with one. In Canada it's hard to find a vehicle that doesn't have one.

Wisconsin is one of the states that gets a block heater from the factory. If your truck has one, look in the opening in the bumper. Toward the driver's side you should find the plug laying in there on top of the air deflector (it'll be below the opening). It's just long enough to reach past the front of the bumper.

I looked too and could NOT find one. My truck was initially purchased in St Louis... It stays in the garage at night (50 degrees) and I park in a heated garage (75 always). So no biggie. But I was thinking of picking up a toy car and that would place the F150 in the driveway, but not w/o a block heater...

Rule of thumb? When I lived in Calgary I wouldn't plug it in until it got to -20*c or colder (night or day). Does it get that cold in Iowa?
Now that I'm in BC I don't even remember plugging it in last winter. I just remote start it (with heater on from the night before) 15 minutes before i'm ready to leave in the morning.
