PO401 and PO303 codes
The DPFE is just in front of the EGR valve. It has 2 vac hoses coming out of the bottom and tieing into that brass looking line coming out of the back of the EGR valve. Just in front of the DPFE is the "thingy" that had the suckion sound after turning the motor off.
Yes, I had the tool for the fuel filter. Back one came off with no problem. The front one would not move. I sprayed wd40, break cleaner and 3in-one at differant times to try to clean the coupling and lub it with no luck.
I'm ending my day of Ford Frustration and play with the 77 Vette. Only thing she needs is the emergancy break leaver button fixed. Maybe that will be easyer!!!
Thanks for the help and when I find out more on the truck I will pass it along.

Ok, as I have checked, rechecked, replaced, cleaned, cussed, prayed for and HOPED,,, I think the miss in the truck has been repaired. I tested the wires a long time ago, replace the plugs just last summer,,, BUT after replaceing the plugs and wires this evening, the truck is running fine. I still have no heat, but it looks like one problem is fixed, now I more on the the heat issue.
Thanks for everyones help, and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

the dpfe hoses hook up oppsite of what you'd think. at least mine do. short hose = far connection(front of truck) long goes to nearest (closer to firewall). i had the code after changing mine couldnt figure it out and the hoses were reversed.
