Sputtering 4.6 AGAIN!!

I've got a 2002 Expedition with the 4.6 liter. Approx 94k miles

Around 60k miles I had the infamous "sputtering" when accelerating and after much research and $$ it was determined from Ford that it was a Coil On Plug (#1 cylinder)

Now the sputtering is back and getting worse. What are my options? Should I even think about trying this repair myself? (I've replaced plugs and wires before)....

What's the best way to diagnose? Should I just bite the bullet and replace all of them with hi performance aftermarket?

Is the coil separate from the wires? I heard often it's just the wires??

No service engine soon light or codes detected by Autozone...

Don't think aftermarket coils are better.
You are just having a series of problems you have to deal with.
There is no magic in other coils.
They work fine as long as they work, like anything else.
Use them or OEM, makes no difference.
Problem is you have to find out which ones are causing the fault by having a stress test done on all of them and replacing the ones that don't pass.
Even if you buy 8 new, there nothing to say one or more won't fail again.

I assume only the Ford dealer can run the needed stress test? No codes at Autozone thrown... Also, what should the test cost me? Thanks for the feedback...

You could get the full set of 8 cops from Global on ebay for $96 shipped. If you still have the original plugs at 94k, change them too, use OEM Motorcraft. Use plenty of dielectric grease on the cops.
