150 with 5.4L 3V towing

Does anyone know if I could tow a bobcat lets say max size of a T250 with a F-150 5.4L 3V automatic supercab. Also has anyone hauled a 14' trailer with a load in it with this motor wondering how it would tow. It does have the trailer tow package with trans. oil cooler and bigger radiator. Just looking for power reveiw. Thanks for all input.

Sure, it'll tow it.... Might exceed a weight rating or two, but if it's just from the rental place and back, you should be ok....

I've seen rental places that would not let you tow a load like that without a 3/4 ton truck however......

My folks needed to rent a small backhoe and I said I would do it. I showed up with my F150 and they said no... You need a F250 at least.... Ok, I go back and get Mom and Dad's 1971 F250 and no questions asked.... My 1997 F150 has more power and tows better then the old and tired F250, but that was the way it was!!

That's a big machine for an F150 to tow. About 9400 lbs. plus the trailer at 2000-2500 lbs. Maybe if you're going a short distance like Mitch said. But on a long haul or regular basis you need a more stout tow vehicle.

Yup - that's PSD or V10 territory. I wouldn't even use a 5.4 Super Duty.

I had to do just what you did. I needed to pickup a bobcat on a trailer, it was 9400 lbs. Due to insurance purposes, they told me that they couldn't let it go without at least a 3/4 ton truck. So I borrowed a F-250 from a friend. I brought it back with my truck and had no problem. ('04 F-150 SuperCrew 4x4 with towing package) I could tell that it was back there, and I'm sure my transmission did not appreciate it much, but I did not have any problems towing around town.

If they will let you do it, I don't think you'll have a problem, but our trucks are not built for that kind of abuse on a daily basis.
