nitrous?

i have a stock 4.6L engine with K&N intake and pacesetter headers. i was wondering what shot would be best to use with this set up without blowing up my engine? i was thinking like a 100 or smaller. if any one has any info at all let me know . just looking for a few more poines without anything to $$ or to crazy because its a daily driver that sometimes lines up next to rice burners at street lights. id like my truck to have enogh to put them in there place.

ya i was thinkin more of 50-75 cuz i really really dont want/need this engine to blow up. i have 4.6L heads off a police interceptor...just in case heads. but i would rather keep it safe. you seem to know your stuff so ill go off that. do you know any cheap kits? or were i could fine one. and about how many more ponies ill get out of a 50 vs a 75 shot? lots of questions sorry.

id go with a 75hp jet, which is a 75hp increase, and about 140ftlbs increase. Go with the NX kit

ya i think my mudd days are done to. i hate the spark plug chambers why does the block have the spark plugs like that? maybe i just have really bad wires but everytime i mudd or clean my engine theres at least one misfire if not more 1/2 misfires due to water/mudd on the spark plug and taking the charge. but my CAI did fine with open filter nothing in the pipe a few chunks of mudd on the filter but thats it i was...kinda suprised. the box did say 4X4 rated so i put that to the test with a 2WD truck lol

most of this nitrous stuff is over 500 bucks a kit. well guess this will be a summer project. and a few of those i saw used the fuel line and used some of the gas. my fuel lines are lines not rubber hoses how/could i use thoe kits? i liek the kits that use the throttle body spacer looking things. gotta start saving up for that. should be fun!

go with about a 75 wet shot and don't forget cooler burning plugs and TUNING, it would be in your best interest to get tuning. You can tap the fuel line into the shrader valve on the passenger side to get the fuel you need

I would not go with a dry kit.
The NX wet kit is about 500 bucks. 75 Wet is safer then the dry kit!

When you inject nitrous oxide into the air intake the burning of it in the combustion chamber releases oxygen. When fuel is added to this extra oxygen it increases the power of the engine. If you do not add extra fuel you will lean out the Air fuel ratio and can cause engine damage. There are two types of kits. Wet and dry.
A wet system introduces the extra fuel at the nitrous nozzle a dry system makes the EFI introduce the extra fuel at the fuel injectors.
Most wet systems tap into the fuel line (fitting attached to the schrader valve) and run a line to the injection nozzle. There are separate solenoids and jets in the line to control the amount of fuel required.
A dry system adds the fuel at the injectors. This is usually done by removing the vacuum at the fuel pressure regulator which in turn increases the fuel pressure.

Most nitrous systems are safe to use without a tune as long as you don't go over a 50 hp shot. For every 50 HP you should retard timing 2°. The stock PCM can handle the first 2° but anything after that should have a tune set for the amount of Nitrous you plan an using.

A wet system has a second soleniod that sprays fuel into a fogger nozzle, a dry system use's your fuel injection system to add more fuel when you spray the nitrous. Your limited as to how much nitrous you can spray with a dry due to your stock fuel system. A wet system allows you to spray what ever you want, 200, 400, 500 hp's of nitrous.

A few things to know is forged pistons makes a bad nitrous tuner look good, retarding timing 2 degree's for every 50hp of nitrous and a progressive controller allow you to apply big shot's of nitrous without blowing the tires away. Don't get to greedy with NOS cause that's when things start to break and the tranny may be the first to feel the effects.

I run a 275 wet shot in carb 302 Falcon at the dragstrip but get it on the street and feels like I'm on ice

Last Friday I took my dragbike out and I run just a 36 shot and ran a 5.78 at 121 mph in the 1/8. I'll be stepping up to a 60 shot next year

Nitrous is fun if you don't mine playing around with the bottles.
