Oil pressure problems when its cold

So I have been noticing in the mornings, that when my truck is cold, and I first start it, the oil warning light is on immediatly. And then when my truck gets warm, the oil light goes away, and the gauge moves to normal and everything is fine.

Is this something that anyone has ever seen before? Is this an issue I need to worry about swapping out the oil pump? What are yalls thoughts on this ?

These motors have a pressure switch (not a sender). First thing to do is replace the switch, if it has leaked inside itself it will actup.

I found this now that I know it could be the oil position switch.

hat is the information from Autozone's website. I am going to get it and install it Sunday or Monday. Will reply if it fixes it. This is for the 5.4l

Duralast / Oil Pressure Switch PS407

anyone know the location of the oil pressure switch?

I had the same issue with my screw I replaced the sensor on the oil filter housing and it solved the problem. it was like an under 10 dollar fix. got mine at car quest.

The switches are pretty flaky.

It's only supposed to take 4-6 psi of oil pressure to make them. It's pretty rare for the oil pump to actually fail from wear or age.

went to ford saturday.

they told me to change my oil from 5 w 30 to 5 w 20w syth blend.
ford recommends all there engines run this oil. light less restrictive.
and they sold me a $12.00 piece oil sending unit.
he said that'll fix it. its located right close to oil filter on my model. thanks guys
