problem with 06 f150, need advice

Gentlemen,

this is the 3rd time i have taken my truck in for service for the same issue. when turning the key to start the truck, it chokes. It sounds like a diesel and then dies. I turn the key again and it starts.

yesterday, it took about 12 seconds to even turn over. (first time that happened).

any idea what could be going on?

I was having a similar problem with my 2004 4.6L. It could be as simple as a crappy oil filter. What brand oil filter are you using? Which engine do you own?

What does the service writer say it is. Maybe remind them of the lemon law, and give them one more chance to make things right...............

Using 5w-20 Ford motor oil with ford filter. Changed every 2500-3000 miles by myself.

Its the 5.4

Dealer is stumped. i am going to bring up the fuel pump relay and see what they say. 2 days now and they still don't have a clue.

and yes, i am getting very close to filling out the lemon law on this truck. I love ford trucks, but i think this one is a lemon.

i don't want to go to the titan but i may if this keeps up.

UPDATE;

i asked them about the fuel pump and he said it's a possibilty. However, now the truck isn't doing it anymore. He said he needs proof before he changes any parts. So it looks like i am getting the truck back without a fix. All this even when the tech started it yesterday and it had the symtoms (they saw it first hand). But because he can't prove it today i am out of luck.

This really irks me.

If its not making any noise, no symptoms what so ever then what would you like them to do? Change the pump? you wont know if it "fixed" anything because you have no symptoms to check it against. We get customers all the time saying it made a noise with them. We will then ask them to drive with us to show us the noise, and if there is nothing we will take a look at it, check everything out, but we wont just start replacing parts. So if your dealership simply said they wont even look at it anymore, get a new mechanic (perhaps a well expereinced independant) but if they checked everything out, found nothing, and you still want them to replace stuff well then... ?? p.s. Lemon Law ONLY deals with driver saftey (i.e. brakes, air bags, and stuff like that) It has NOTHING to do with a hard start or other problems. Just so you know... Just my 2 cents, hope they helped some

Its been in for this issue 3 times already for this issue. This last time the dealer experienced it but apparently was unable to diagnose it. They said they needed it to do it more? WTH???????? Its been doing this since new. Also, lemon law in my state is NOT just for safety issues. It covers any issue that is not resolved in 4 tries.

And yes, after buying a truck with a sticker price (i paid less) of 44k, i expect them to fix the damn thing. I don't care if it isn't the fuel pump. I am sick and tired of taking it back to them. It's been there 7 times in 28k miles for issues. NONE Of which they have fixed. If i had to guess, i would say this truck was mfg'd on Jan 1st! I have owned several f150's in the past all of which had been reliable. this one however is not.

If i end up deep in the woods hunting until dusk and this thing doesn't start, and i have to walk 7 miles thru the woods, i will not only take it back to the dealer but it will be parked thru the front door!!!!!

I expect better service than this

just out of curiousity, what truck comes with a sticker of $44k? I've priced a fully loaded up the @$$ FX4 Screw and it came in at $40k. Hope you're not dealing with a King Ranch with all those troubles!
