Blew a Plug...Renting Time-Sert

Well, I'm now a second time member. #3 plug blew for the second time yesterday. Was hoping to find someone who was renting the kit but oh well. I need to buy and get my truck fixed ASAP.

The cheapest place I found so far is straight from Time Sert for $375. After this, I will be willing to rent mine out. Rules and regulations to follow

10 Months and maybe 10,000 miles..not sure.

Just got the kit for $360 from a company in Cali called Thread Kits. In stock and one day delivery.

My plug had all the tell tale signs also...corrosion in the plug bore (all the others are nice and clean), brand new COP looks like it's dry rotted, spark plug looked almost brand new (very white, almost lean looking). The force blew the plug gap down to .028" from .052".

If only having problem with the one cylinder, wouldn't it be cheaper to have repaired for about $200, as was posted a couple of posts down? Just a thought. I sure hope I never have this problem. Has anyone ever had the problem with one cylinder, and then just go through and do all 8 in one shot? Just to not be stranded later down the road?

Yes, that was a thought...I actually found quotes in the $250+ range. Then I thought about it.... #1, no one knows how to work on my truck or will do as good a job as me, period!! #2, if by chance it ever blows a second plug, that kit has now immediately paid for itself and I break even money wise.

I will not do the other 7 cylinders because none of them are showing the signs mentioned above and the spark plugs all seem to screw in OK. I'll wait patiently until it happens again.

rent time cert?

Never thought about renting one.

I have has so many plugs blow, I have lost track. I bought the time cert deal. It works, but it is very difficult to use, because you can not see what you are doing. The first time it took about 4 hrs. 3 days after that fix, I blew a different plug. The 2nd time only took about 2 hrs.

Not sure if I ever got all the shavings out. I followed all the direcrtions, and that is as good as I can do.
