Don't forget that Police Interceptors also have 3.55 gears with 27 inch (235/55R17) tires. I had read a few have 3.27s, but most are ordered with the 3.55s. 3.55s with 27 inch tires give approximately the same effect as running 4.10s in an F150 with 30 inch (255/70R16) tires.
I could be mistaken, but a friend (certified auto tech) eluded to something different about the intake of the cop engine being different, shorter runners maybe ? Is it possible that I'm thinking of a 4.9 V8 seen in Canada ? My friend has such an intake at his shop, but I can't for the life of me be sure what he said it comes off of.

4.9L V8? What would that be out of? Maybe your thinking of the 3.9L in the Lincoln LS?
