Gas in my oil? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gas in my oil? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
About a month ago my check engine light came on in my truck, I checked the codes and it was lean on bank 1 and pending lean on bank 2. Talked to my neighbor, he is a mechanic and he said probably a vac leak. He said if it was running fine, which it was it wont hurt anything. Well Yesterday I checked my oil, and wiped the dipstick and instantly smelled gas and noticed the oil was thin..........I dont have a clue and Im wondering what is going on and my neighbor is out of town. ANY HELP, AND I MEAN ANY HELP WOULD BE APPERICATED
Thanks

Fully identify your vehicle.
Your neighbor was right about it likely being a vacuum leak, however, the rest of his advice is suspect.
When you have a vacuum leak, the computer responds by running the engine RICH. This means that you're getting a lot of unburned fuel through the system, some of which probably has run through to the oil.
Change the oil immediately and find and repair the vacuum leak. Reset the PCM and keep a really close eye on things. Also be on the lookout for an injector leaking down although they usually don't produce "lean" codes.

I agree with project. You are running WAY too rich, for whatever reason. I once had a 1986 Ranger pickup that would drive just fine for about 2 miles, then completely quit. Ended up with gas in the oil, a whole big mess. Turns out the choke on the carburetor was stuck and so it was pumping gas through the motor as if it were 0 degrees out all the time. Too much gas just ran right through the motor, into the oil, and kept killing it. Sounds like you have a similar situation of dumping too much fuel into the cylinders.
