1st service engine soon light on 02 screw 4by`

she threw her 1st code this morn the zone said engine misfire in all the odd cylinders but only three of the even ones?my truck has 51k on her-is this common for the 5.4l and/or milage?i religously change her oil and fuel filters.isnt this supposed to be a 100k between tune ups engine? has anybody else had this same prob at this milage? sorry for the long post btw

Yup, post the numbers from there scanner if you want help - it's a guessing game without them..

Ok had is scanned and the code is PO 316. any ideas?

316 = misfires on engine startup first 1000 rpm.
Don't put so much faith in the 100,000 mile tune up, oil changes etc.
Anything can happen anytime.
Things to check is crank position sensor and plug for base ignition, cam position sensor and plug for base fuel injection.
Water in the gas, injector need cleaning etc.
Missfires can be either ignition or fuel. The computer can't tell the difference.

where i live gas is mixed w/ 10% ethanol could this be it and is there somthing i can add to the gas tank to remove/improve it?

ok as of yesterday morn at 10 am the light went OFF, it has not came on since,ill assume that this is a good thing the truck didnt run bad or anything w/ the light on-could it be that i got a hold of a bad tank of gas or somthing? also i changed the oil last monday afternoon i was a little over on the milage b/c i just took a trip down to georgia i only fuel at mobil/shell or qt stations and most of the trip 2 and from ga was either shell or mobil.
