MAF questions???

someone told me that a way you can test your maf sensor is that while your truck is idling unplug the sensor and if nothing happens its fine. when i do it my truck shuts of almost instantly. does this mean i need a new maf sensor??

I would say whoever told you is a dummy. A MAF sensor is measuring how much air is coming into the engine! Unplugging it makes the engine blind, it doesn't know how much air is entering, hence why it SHOULD shut off. I can't imagine why you'd bother testing the MAF unless a code was throw and a CEL.

Just unplugged my MAF while the engine was running. Made no difference. Had a slight bump in the idle and right back to smooth idle. Tried the air charge temp after that no change.

No cel either.

Is something wrong? 160,000 miles never replaced anything yet except plugs
