Looking for 4.6L truck
Looking for 4.6L truck
I am looking for someone in the Portland/SW Washington area that could help us. We are looking for a 99-04 4.6L equipped PI headed truck that might be able to work with us to complete the design for a positive displacement blower. We are a engineering/product development company. The kit has been completed. The last 12 months has been spent testing and proving the product in, and it has been tested on a 2003 Mustang GT. rwhp came in at 386 by 402 torque @8.5 pounds of boost. We now need this truck to complete fitment and to do testing. Please e-mail to rfedd@aol.com
Thanks, and sorry to side track the thread a bit,
Ron

I have a 2004 new body style with a 4.6L and sure would LOVE a mod like this. I live in Northern CA so I may be a little too far for ya guys, but am willing to help any way I can and will be more than willing to get a mod like this for my truck! Hopefully this would work on the newer 4.6L as well???

We are basically looking to be able to use a truck to design the intake portion of the supercharger. On the Mustang the intake/filter is on the passenger side, on the truck it is on the opposite side. I guess you could say a "test car" that once we have all the dimensions and measurements, we can then fabricate the new parts and use the same vehicle for a test fit and performance testing..

even after 04 (-present) the 4.6 L is still an option (i have it). Also there are 04 models with the older body style and design... may want to do some research on FORD there bud. You got me all excited about a S/C... now you are sounding like you have never even seen a ford truck...
?
Did you mean your applicationa was first designed for the 04 5.4L or are you trying to say that the 5.4L didn't debut in the truck until 04?
One of those is going to make you sound like a crack head......There are some brilliant cats on this website so don't try to BS anyone here if you are.
Just a friendly heads up.

Thanks for the headsup. So here goes. Here is a picture of the M112 based kit that we developed for the 1999-2004 Mustang GT 4.6L. If you look at the lower manifold, the center lower manifold where the intercooler goes, is a seperate casting from the intake runners. The throttle body is our own design, the intake, the thermostat housing, etc.

Our test car, a 2003 GT has been running around happily with the kit in place.
The intake runners are cast seperately and we are currently working on the non-pi headed version for the Mustangs, but we targeted the 99-04 PI headed Mustangs first. That kit is now done and after a year of testing, it made excellent power. We have dyno sheets of the results. We had not really looked at the truck market, but after looking, it started to make sense. Trucks need lots of torque, and at about 8.5 lb-ft we made 402 at the tire. The basic difference between the Mustang application and the truck is that the CAI comes in on the opposite side. So, in order to dimensionally check fitment, we need a truck. We will also need that truck, once the design is done, to bolt on the charger, and prove it in.
I apologize for making an assumption that Ford put the PI headed motor in the 99's and up.
Thats the story. We need a PI headed 4.6L F150, followed by a 4.6L non-PI headed F150 once the designs are done for both the Mustangs and trucks.

this manifold castings similar to the Lightning style? after air goes through intercooler held by midplate it goes into the bottom of the lower intake manifold which has the intake runners? or did you add another piece?
