Exclamation 5.4 2007 f-150 fx2 sounds like a diesel

I had about three months ago went out and got a 2007 fx2 f-150 crewcab with 21 miles on it. I notice a funny noise when i would start the motor. Then around about 1500 miles i notice that there was a knocking noise that sounded like a harmonic balancer had went bad. So i took it in and they said there was nothing wrong with that noise. Then around about 2000 miles i was backing in to a parking spot and my truck died. Then later that day i was at a stop light and my truck started to shack like crazy. i took it in again but this time to a local dealer and they said that there was a service bulletin were there is a spacer that was left out of the crank shaft which was causing this problem. They also said that 1 out of every 100 motors made for the 2007 f-150 have this problem. So if you have these make them check this. Since they kind of have to. Also has anyone heard of this before.

Do a search... you are probly one of the lucky ones who is getting a new motor. It is a bummer.. but it hapens now and then. There are several threads about low mile 5.4's crank problems.

Mine happened at 580. But, mine also included digging into the tranny and replacing the computer. Needless to say they did a Buyback on it, and now i have 4500 on the new truck with no problems so far. Good luck with yours.

So..... I am at 12k I haven't been notified and haven't noticed any odd noises, should I call it good? If I was to have a failure like this it should have happened by now?

Sorry to hijack thread

If you have 12k on your motor you should be fine. BUt if not you still have a lot or warranty on your motor. BUt if it dies on you and shacks bad take it in asap don't wait at all.
