Very Basic Intake Q's

I run a 5.0L 1996 f150 with true duels...

I read a post saying that the Volant blank blank has a nice sound...does that mean the sound in the engine, or the exhaust sound??? Maybe a really stupid Q.

Then, to me using common sense, a cold air intake is healthier for the engine, or just better to cool the air for the engine to run off of...is that true? What are the +/- of cold air intakes...? I found some for under $100, will they most likely be trash?? Any intake info helpful!!

Ideal for me would be a cold air intake that sounds good. But what I really need, is a good cold air intake that's compatible with my engine. And these things are pretty easy to install is take it? Thanks everyone!

Very easy to install.

And when people talk about the sound of the intake, its literally that. When you give it gas, you can here the engine sucking in air, and the intake itself usually makes a very deep power sound. Its pretty nice!

A cai won't change your exhaust sound, just the sound from under the hood. I run the 3" AF1 and get a nice "whoosh" of induction when I step on it and a more noticeable growl. Plus the throttle response is much better than with the stock intake. A little bit better mileage as well.

You're right that colder air is better but the free flow of air, regardless of the temp, is even more important. And it needs to be the correct amount of air.

They're all pretty easy to install, no special tools or expertise needed.

I'd really suggest typing "air intakes" or "cold air intakes" in to the search function on here; TONS of opinions and good info, literally hours of entertainment!

Who is the manufacturer of the one u found for 150. I have installed 2 of them. They are really easy to install. The ones i have installed where moroso and PIT. I know K&N is also a popular one. The ones i have bought where both about 230 bucks. The ones i got werent for an F-150 though. Not sayin the cheaper one wont work just as good. U should be able to see what the power increase in with the cheaper one compared to the more expensive ones if you do a little searchin.
