Electric Fans

I am looking to purchase an electric fan kit for my '02 F150 with the 5.4l V8. What do you guys recommend? Which kits are easy to install? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

run two of these each with their own power wires fuse and relay. get a manual switch. for the AC and then get a temp switch to kick the fans on when the truck is getting hot

How difficult was it to mount the Procomp fans in your rig? Did you have to remove your fan shroud?

its not hard the come with push ties. but i bolt mine to the holes that run along the outside of the radiator. its not hard at all. hardest part is gettin the stock crank fan off.. requires a cresent wrench and a hammer. and something to hold the pulley with.

Nice one Faster150 great find. Do you know if you can run it to come on automatically when hot and also i think to have 0ne fan or both to come on automatically with the AC? Just in case you forget to turn on when running the AC. Also do you have to remove the old fan shroud along with the fan and clutch.
Thanks.

yes theres few companies that make adjustable fan controller switches. u should run one for the condensor and run one for the radiator. that will insure that the fan only comes on when engine temp is getting hot and when the condensor needs to be cooled. because having the fan on when driving over 50mph is pointless ur just wasting life of the motor and can actually burn it up by over spinning it because the wind rushing through the radiator is greater than the fan normally spins at. at advance auto parts stores Hayden makes an adjustable temp switch

You can rent this beauty at Autozone for a 17.99 deposit that you get back when you return the tool

I know it says Ford 4.9 (which is the old I6 motor) but it worked just fine on my buddies 2005 5.4 and im sure it will work on any of Ford's V8s

WOW! Look at the clearance you get when the fan and shroud are removed.
Great post and a nice job.

I used the procomp 16" and a 14" electric fan in my truck and i got the flex-a-lite adjustable controller. Its pretty easy to install everything, only the wiring took a little bit. Heres a pic.

How did you guys hook them up? Auto or manual or both!

Looks great! Do you notice a difference in power and fuel economy?
