Code 172

My check engine light came on and I took down to my mechanic and he ran a diagnostic test and came up with code 172, running lean. He told me that there is not a problem and just cleared it out. 2 weeks later it came back on, so I took it down to him again, same code. I would like to know if there is any way to adjust my fuel/air mixture?

I have done a search on the problem and I going to have anothr mechanic look at the fuel system. I thought it was an O2 sensor, but the more I read the more I was convinced that it's something in the fuel delivery. Either pump or injector. I will try first with a fuel injecotr cleaner. If that fail then it's off to the shop with her.

Code P0172 is a rich problem. First check your airfilter. If the airfilter is ok you could be having a EVAP purge valve problem. The only way to adjust the fuel air mix is to fix the code problem and the PCM will do the rest.
