OBD2 scanners on sale

Hey guys the Sears is having a sale on these scanners, which one do you think is better? Bother are $100 either way, sale price is same on each.

Actron http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...TOOL&ihtoken=1

Innova
http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...cemldffidfmm.0

I was reading on both and the Innova was boasting "Includes USB cable and software to create a professional diagnostic summary report. Internet updateable."

Whatcha think?

Thanks!

The sale is for the local sears store only, in store sale.

Both will be on sale this Sunday for $99 each.

I have an actron for quick code reads and clears which is good for the original can networks but it doesn't access the newer vehicles... just says link error.

Don't know anything about the other one but I suspect it'll be the same.

Make certain that any selected scan tool is either CAN-capable out of the box or CAN-upgradeable. If upgradeable, find out if it is a free upgrade from the manufacturer or if there is a charge.

Sears associates will likely NOT have this info available to them unless it's on the product packaging, get it from the manufacturer first.

This is important moving forward. If you don't have CAN-capability, the scanner will be worthless for any Ford 2004+.

I think the Actron is CAN updateable according to their site:

"tool is updateable for future vehicles"

I guess I'll have to look on the boxes. I thought i remember one of them said CAN capable.

"The new trilingual code reader from Actron is internet updateable..."

The CP9135 shows to be on sale online for $119.
"Field upgradeable...", but one review says "...it is only updateable through the manufacturer and only for free if they say it needs one."

Displays the code number only - the Actron displays the full text definition & includes phone & e-mail tech support. I'd go for the Actron.

Good deal Steve, I was leaning towards the Actron as well as they are one of the names I'm more familiar with! Thanks! :-D
