Will these COPS work in my 06 5.4L ?

I am not sure if they will or not. The ebay listing goes from 97 till 05. I currently have a slight miss or engine vibration at 45mph to 55mph when I am in OD on the road. There is no miss if you just rev the engine. No CEL codes thrown.

My truck has 52k miles on it right now. I have done a fuel filter replacement without much success, and I am too scared to pull out the plug due to break off's.

There is just too many what-if's with my truck right now.

From the picture they look right, but pics from an item on ebay can be decieving. I do know that COP's for the 2v, 3v, and 4v engines are different and not interchangable, with that being said, I'm not too sure they are correct since they say it fits 97-05 and the three valve heads did not exist before 04.

F.Y.I. All 5.4L engines in 04-up F-150's have the 3v heads.

Those coils in that EBay ad are DG508s and will not fit a 5.4 3V. DG511s are the ones you want for a 3V. In any case, I don't think coils are gonna fix your problem.

I would say no for two reasons. The others are right in that the COPs for the 03 and older models are different than the ones for the 04 models and up. Go to Troyer's website and he will make it clear that the COPs are different for the 2-valve and the 3-valve engines. He sells each, even COPs for the 4-valve engines.

The second reason I would not get these particular ones is that he is only selling a set of 8 for $96. That should be a red flag. COPs directly from Ford would cost more than that, even Troyer's Granatelli brand sells for just over $400 for a set of 8. Besides, if I am reading the site correctly, he is giving you the cross reference numbers to other known brands, but I don't see mention what brand he is selling. We all love a good deal but these seem too cheap. As always, buyer beware. He is certainly not advertising them correctly.

Seems to me that most members here who have bought the DG508's from Global have had a positive experience. Don't diss them if you have no personal experience with them simply on the basis of a low price.

I wasnt dissing anything. I said I cant tell that he is actually selling any brand name, just that he is saying what the coils are like. If you go thru his site, he says the coils match a Motorcraft, Ford, Standard, and Wells part number. So, which brand is it? Is it any of those mentioned brands or is it only SIMILAR to those brands? If they are truly Motorcraft, then yes, that is a great deal. By the way, I have plenty of experience with true Motorcraft branded parts and would not hesitate to recommend them.

I have been reading that these plugs this guy is selling have far less failures per set sold then most of the OEM stuff you can buy at a dealership.

The quality - or lackthereof - of those coils and that seller in this thread is irrelevant anyways. They're the wrong ones for the OP's truck.

Quintin , what's different with the three valve coils , what changed?

Does the PCM still shoot the coils low signals to convert to pulse?

Or did they just re- event the housing to fasten to the motor in a different manner ?

He has a low grade misfire of course - the classic 45mph miss that happens after OD is engaged.

If he had an 03 or earlier model, I would instruct him to push the motor hard @45 mph before/when the misfing cylinder . This helps the misfire monitor detect the faulty cylinder.

I haven't worked that much on the 04' s - I changed the plugs on a 04 and 05 at the same time last fall - that's about it.

TF - If you decide you need COP's , I would go with the MotoBlues for the three valve. There not that bad on price - there also a little more spirited than the OEM's , definitely cheaper..

Good Luck with it

The boots and connectors are different, and the little eyelet that mounts the coil to the valve cover is different. I've seen very few if any of the 511s fail, so I doubt coils will get the OP's truck straight.

Cops

I bought from Global and they came right on. I have not used the cops yet but they look just like the stock ones. Just a good deal.
