Question Performance gearing options?

2006 scab w/ a 4.6, i dont need it for towing but 2-3 times a year, and only about 5000lbs. off the line this thing is still a turd, i think the factory gearing is 3.77 open, isn't it, what would you recomend, and from what manufacturer.

By the way, how much will it hurt the top end speed, peak for me was 127, i'd surely say @ drag limit.

current engine mods: edge evo, airmax intake w/ k&n, helix power tower, motoblue cops, granatelli hardcore series plug connectors, troyer performance twin 16" e-fans

Well if i recall the diff tag will tell you whats in it for gears. There is also a code on the door tag that i have seen the chart floating around here. Just search with your axle code. Best is the tag on the diff though.

Nah , it's not to much, however your posting in the wrong forum , here's the right one - https://www.f150online.com/forums/2004-2008-f-150-80/ .

Also " Other Powertrain" would be a good place for your question.

Anyway, I believe you have a 3.73 rear gear , as mention above you can find that info on the diff's and inside the the d-door - last row to find your gearing code.

3.73's aren't that bad, a 4six will still struggle with that weight behind it - 4.10's is the all around favorite ..

strangly my truck was faster with stock tires than these small ones just due to most of its power being in the mid range not up top. id have to completely change the intake manifold and cams to get the power up higher. so overall 3.55's were faster than the 3.90 i got now. cause it doesnt stay in the pullin range long enough to get anywhere.

You should be able to tune it - modify the trans tables to take advantage.

You have a 97 right? Did you do the data logging for a new tune yet?

06 has electronic throttle and a lot of torque control from the PCM.
