4.6 engine performance options

I have a 2005 stx 4.6 and I was wondering if I could swap the 04-07 4.6 mustang engine parts. Also could I use the X CAL 2 with mustang tunes for the performance tunes. Or what are my best options for 35'' tires and still be able to run mid 13's. Money is not a concern. Just tell me what to do.

If money is of no concern then sell your truck for a 5.4 or buy a stang. But since im sure yo udont want to part with your truck than i woudl suggest this. Get a stage 1 upgrade from troyer. It will run you about $1200 but it will add about 50 rwhp. Also they have kits with super chagers and turbos as well as many other stuff like larger throttle bodys and shift kits to aid in putting the power to the wheels.

I would say that exhast, intake, and tuner would be a good start.

I know that on the older 4.6's (like mine) a lot of the parts are interchangable. But im not goign to say for sure on yours what is. Look it up or post it. Im sure its the same though. But going with stang parts you might lose torque which is what a truck was made for.

Also you could change the gearing to fit your 35's. This wont add power but it will sure make it more fun to drive. As you lower the gear ratio it makes it quicker on her feet. Way faster. I dont know what your running for gears but you might want ot look at getting a set if you get bigger tires. That is a must.

Heres the link for the stage 1 upgrade. Might take a look at the others for your truck.

But I have the 4.6, not the 5.4. And I seriously doubt there interchangable. I know alot about the different mustangs from 94-07 and Id be willing to bet that I could swap certain parts from the 04-07 gt's. But Ive done some research and it would be pointless to tune it with a mustang tuner. How ever i can use the gt throttle body, MAF, CAM, cam gears, and headers. Dont know if there would be a difference in the headers but they might be cheaper. As far as gears Im going with either 4.56's or 4.88's. The truck is not a daily driver and is only driven on the weekends basically. Plus posi's for a 8.8 rear end are cheap so thats a plus too. Money really isnt a problem but I dont want to part with my truck and I dont want to spend more then necessary obviously. Spend what I need to run 13's with 35's. Im in the process of researching the roush s/c setup for the GT mustang. But if anyone knows anything, please post your input.

Troyer doesn't have any performance packages for 04 and newer 4.6's.

You can get tuners - just not a full performance package. Troyer can do custom tunes if you are patient.

Haha, if you want to run mid 13's with a 4.6 and 35 inch tires in one of these pigs then that 'money is no concern' statement better hold true.
Its going to take a LOT of money...

Dont even F with bolt ons...get some boost, and even then you will have a ways to go. Gears are a must here also, in your case I would throw a set of about 4.88s in there.

What Mustang parts are you talking about. Alot of the 4.6 parts between the Stang and truck are virtually the same. Not really much to gain there.
No go on the Stang tunes either, they work best on...Stangs!! Whoda thunk it

I just now read your #5 post now too.

Heavy *** truck, 35s, and all that power you are going to need to get even close to 13's...you will be going through 8.8 inch axles like a baby suckin tittays
I doubt it will hold up.

the 31 spline shafts hold up fine as long as u pre load it. ive never seen a truck break a 8.8 at the tracks. ive seen mustangs dump the clutch and snap them bone stock but ur comparing 28spline to a 31 spline. the truck rear ends are much beefier than the ones in the mustangs.and to begin with its usually the pinion neck that breaks before the axel shafts do.

its pretty difficult to break into the 13's all motor without touchin the heads and n/a ur gonna have to boost something. im in the 14's with my ext cab with 156K miles and its a 97 only came with 210hp at the fly wheel. im well over that right now through. est 262rwhp. but i wont know till i get a 2 piece drive line that will handle the RPM in 3rd.
