P1406 DPFE downstream hose?
P1406 DPFE downstream hose?
Sigh. In addition to needed new calipers (not pads, not rotors but calipers) and both the rear heater and AC line leaking and needing replacement, my E350 V10 van threw code P1406 - dpfe downstream hose.
Not sure where the dpfe is on my van (behind the air intake I'm sure), or what "downstream hose" means. Maybe clogged or cracked?
Any thoughts on clarification is appreciated.

Most likely your DPFE took a dump..
Only get these from the dealership - Ford updated them and you can't receive the uodated part at the third party venders.

cool
excellent. the code is for the hose. dpfe actually monitors blockage. I will need to check that out. I can get a sensor from rockauto 40- 60 bucks depending on manufacturer.
Thanks so much for the site. Bookmarked it.

I've played around with DPFE's ALLOT more than I care to in the past - I even have a fix if you want to fix yours.
After all that, in conclusion - The very best way to handle this problem with a 1406 code (1401 in certain vehicles) is to buy a new fully updated sensor from the manufacturer.
3rd party venders DO NOT carry this sensor and if you purchase from one , chances are your going to have problems again in the near future.
The sensor itself inside the housing is what gets stuck and sends bogus signals to the PCM.
