Radiator differences on 97-04 body style

I have a 97 F150 that was a 4.2L V6 and I convered it over to an EFI 5.0 with heads, cam, intake, and exhaust work. It runs pretty good, but if I put a load on it it overheats. Basically if I run the A/C in stop and go traffic, it gets hot. Or if I pull a trailer on the highway with the AC off even, it overheats. It has a really good OEM electric fan setup on it, so I doubt that is the problem.

Im wondering if my 4.2 radiator is either undersized or if its just plugged. If I am going to do a radiator I was thinking of putting a 5.4 radiator in it, but I was wondering if the hose connections will be in the same place. Anyone know?

I'll get a 2 core.

No, don't have factory E-fans for an F150... I actually got a set from the wrecking yard and Im not even sure what its from. The shroud is within an inch of being the same size as the radiator core though, and its got a pair of 16" or so fans. It moves plenty of air..

Thing is, if I want it to the truck will go from cool to overheated in a few minutes. Its moving coolant though, since if i disconnect the upper hose and start the truck it spews coolant everywhere.

I was just hoping this is a bolt in and go deal. I can modify hoses(again) but if its a direct fit thats all the nicer.
