duel sequential turbos

duel sequential turbos
on the new '08 F450 how do the new sequential turbos work? it doesn't make any sense to me, considering that a turbo works off of exhaust pressure or exhaust energy and the second turbo works off the first or am I completely drunk which no doubt i am
