engine code question
engine code question
the check engine light came on in my 97 4.6L F150.
Here is the engine code:
PO402
EGR FLow
Excessive
Could this be from the new air intake i put on a while ago? What should I do about this?

I doubt it , prolly a bad DPFE or your Throttle body elbow EGR port is getting plugged up. I would try cleaning the TB & Elbow first and then replace the DPFE. Check the rubber hoses and it's impossible for the orphis to go bad - don't worry about the pipe.
You pop those rivets on the DPFE and clean it with a 3/16 drill bit - I did two recently and used 3/16 x 5mm rivet to replace. You can just use screws as well.
Once inside theres a few things you must do it will thro a code again. The tinted brown/yellow plastic sheild must be glued on to the sensor after it's clean.
I can do one now in about 20 minutes - don't use crazy glue tho - trust me..
BTW - When you pop the heads DON'T drill all the way thru yet- You have to pull the gasket first.
I found out part of the problem why you have to get the dealer part. People were replacing there aluminum sensores with plastic ones , you can't do that according to the service department..
But yea, like Steve said - search it out , there's plenty of info on this..
