I have a 1993 F-150 4.9l 300cu.in. I-6 5 speed 4WD. I was thinking of putting a "scan gauge" in it (a device that reads all sensors and tells you RPM, Temps, MPH, MPG, etc.) and i cannot find my OBD port ANYWHERE. I have looked everywhere under the dash, in the engine bay, Everywhere and can't find it. Please Help!

 

That's because '93 isn't OBD-II. There's an EEC IV connector under the hood for testing.

 

since you have a 93, you don't have OBDII, that explains why you can't find it!!

your truck has EEC-IV, and the connector is under the hood on the passenger side by the blower for your heat/AC, usually. you'll need a special reader to get the codes, you can get one at Autozone or Advance. I doubt there is a "scan guage" for EEC-IV that can read the parameters you want to like OBDII

 

Sorry guys. I just started getting into the truck scene (used to be into road racing) and figured it would have an easy to find connector since most cars made after 88' had one.
Just a car guy trying to figure this 4x4 **** out.

 

Ya it will be a little bit of a different looking plug than the OBDII one and it will be under the hood. Theres a way to pull the codes using just an analog voltmeter but i forget which plugs in the connector you use, plus you need the book anyways. You can usually pick them up or rent them from the local parts shop.
