sparkplug blowout
sparkplug blowout
I have read countless threads on this but all of them to late. I don't know the firing order of the spark plug that blew but it was the on the driver's side, 3rd one back. I am very disheartened to see all of the stories about this sparkplug blow out epidemic and Ford not doing a thing to resolve the situation. I have read more than 20 incidents about this occurence. I wonder how many more people have had this problem who haven't posted. Just for the record I drive a Ford f150 with a 4.6L 4x4. I don't know if anyone is tallying these things up, but if you are, here is another one.
I have been looking for for a while now, to see if anyone with a 4.6 ever blew a plug. Sorry to see you did. It's a painful situation. I am suppose to close a deal on a 2000 mint condition 4.6 today. I've been having second thoughts about it, and I think I've made up my mind. The truck may be mint but the motor will always be suspect. Hope everything works out for you......ranger910
I experienced one last night on the way home from work. It happened to a 2003 4.6 liter engine. I was under the impression that the head design was re-engineered (to fix this known issue) before the 2003 model went into production.

I remember reading from a post in this engines forum that they changed them in 03 , but not before that . Sometime in 03 - someone had asked that before and he had to look at the numbers on the heads to see if he had the updated ones.
