P01401, Please Help

Hi all,

I have a '99 Scab Lariat 5.4, the other day I got a CEL, had the code read at Autozone, and it came up with 'Insufficient EGR flow'. Now, I got the same code a year ago, and the mechanic replaced the DPFE (the EGR position sensor I think). Could it be this sensor going bad again? Is this code a serious one? I ask b/c I have already sold the truck to my cousin, and he is picking it up this week, but I do not feel right about giving it to him in questionable running condition. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I think you mean code P0401. If the mechanic put any other brand than Motorcraft then yes it could be the sensor again. If he didn't clean the throttle body and EGR ports that is more likely the problem now. Do a search on code P0401, lots of detailed info and pics.
