Oil pump question

After tuning up my truck, I am trying to make sure I did not leave any stone unturned. I have a bad knocking sound, none of the plugs are cross threaded. Did I maybe forget to hook back a wire that relates to the oil pump? I haven't moved the truck out of the driveway out of fear. Is there a fuse I should check? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

You prolly haven't been using OEM oil filters "Motorcraft"

The instructions are under the hood in each Ford vehicle..Motorcraft filters are valved to prevent dry starts and have a better media profile.

If I bought a new vehicle , I would use what it says you should..

My Opinion..

i agree. the motorcraft filters are the same as fram and all the others price wise so.... actually the fram at my local autozone cost more.

Yea , someone cut them in half or rather a test was done where it showed the different media types and quality - Fram was one that consisted of the cheapest materials used and they wern't valved to protect against dry starts.

I don't have that data or the link myself , someone will prolly chime in with it tho.

Actually, the Autolite was the first time I tried anything other than Motorcraft. I use Motorcraft oill and filter. It sounds the the knock is coming from the top of the engine. A check engine light came on, but I didn't let the truck run for more than a few seconds. It started idling at about 900 RPM, then would start to drop after a few seconds.

Now granted the engine is cold, but there is no oil on the dipstick at all. I am not due for an oil change fore another 1500 miles.

Well since there is no oil on the dip stick, the first thing you should do is change the oil. And Use a fresh container so you can see how much oil comes out. What exactly did you do to "tune up" your truck? That means different things to different people. What year is your truck? If you still have coil packs, did you put all the wires on the right plugs? When you start it, does the oil pressure gauge go up?
