Ya, actually when I worked at EEP Essex engine plant, there were alot of 4x4 coded engines and about half of all v6 truck engines were 5 speed too.

My 97 is a Reg Cab Flareside with the 5.4L. It is Pacific Green. The 5.4 emblems are black stickers under the clearcoat. It was exactly what I was looking for in a truck. Has 221K miles right now, and it is still beautiful!

As I recall, in Canada you could only get the V6 in a Reg cab 4x4. If you opted for the SuperCab 4x4 the 4.6 was the base engine. If you wanted a 5 speed manual the biggest engine you could get was the 4.6 regardless of the cab configuration. The 5.4 was available in all cab configurations.

I broke 2 trannies with the 4.6. Torque pushing weight is what brakes them. Remember Crash? He put a turbo on a 4.6 5 speed and it lasted a week.

Mine is an 06 RegCab FX4/5.4. 5.4 is the only engine you can get with the FX4 option in the newer models.

Yes, I ordered it that way.
15.7@85 in the 1/4 in stock form.

that's quicker than faster150's truck with all his mods but then again "the 4.6 is a better engine"

The 4.6 better?!?!!! Did you hit your head?!?!!!

No soup for you!!

Reliability , there the same .

The 5.4L with all it's power & torque is a far better puller and makes for a more versatile truck..

I'm still trying to locate an ability the 4six has over the 5four. Can't find anything - I was going to say mileage, Nope , that doesn't fly either .

I'll keep looking, unless you misprinted...

slightly more aftermarket demand and supply for the 4.6

will that count?

Upgrading to the 5.4 in my '05 4x2 XLT Regular Cab nicked me for $2740.00 -- $1645.00 for the engine itself, and $1095.00 for the automatic transmission......

Im always impressed with the 5.4. That truck runs very good for being stock. my truck can run a 15.7 at 89,(before the 4.10's) and it weighs 6200lbs on 33x20's... Id like to have a single cab f150 2x4 and put my engine in it when I put the new engine in my truck, I bet it would be fast too.
