Remote oil filter kit, different oil filter question.

I just had delivered a Trans-Dapt 1127 remote filter kit. My question is this.

I chose this kit since it would mate to the block being 22mm x 1.5. The problem is that it does NOT fit the OEM 820S MC filter. The spin on bracket is NOT 22mm x 1.5 and Trans-Dapt states that it fits the Fram PH8.

Will using the PH8 void the warranty as it is not a MC filter nor the one recommended?

Should I NOT put it on just if there is any problems, this will not be an issue?

I'd find a different filter - something other than the Fram.

"Unless the company provides a filter free of charge they cannot void your warrentee as long as the one you are using meets their specs regaurdless of brand." That is more or less what it said on the side of the box when I got my drop in K&N air filter.

PH-8 Fram cross is Motorcraft Fl-1. It was used on Fords for years. Shouldn't be a problem unless it is too long for the space you mount it in

Then I'd use a FL-1. Fram oil filters are crap.

Fram PH-8A / Motorcraft FL-1A / Motorcraft FL-1HP / Mobil 1 M301 / etc, etc...there's a whole list of filters that cross over. That's all that matters. Beyond that, just pick your favorite brand. I've been running a remote filter with this size filter for 60,000 miles now!!! I use the Mobil 1 filter. Take a look in my gallery.

They don't have much filtering material in them.

And the base plates for the filter element internally are made of cardboard. Cut open a Fram filter then cut open a Mobil 1, or even a Motorcraft filter...and behold the difference in build quality.

I have always been a little weary of these types of kits, for one reason only. After an oil change, there are more empty oil lines now that have to be refilled with oil during the start of the engine. How many of us fill the oil filters prior to startup? I do. If not slight bearing knock until oil pressure is obtained.

Looks like Purolator is one of the better filters out there. When I was running a service station 35 years ago, that's all we used. It's also funny - the price now is about the same as it was then - 3 to 4 bucks for a standard filter. They didn't have the premium line back then.

That article also seems to say that the only real crap filters are Fram.......I can get them free but I won't use them.

Simple - pull the fuel pump fuse and crank it till the oil pressure comes up, replace the fuse, and start it.

Fram is a very poor quality filter. I wouldn't use them if they were free myself.
