What's are the weight ratings on your truck on the door. Some are preatty light. What is the mileage on you truck? My truck sounds the same as your and was a towing beast untill just after 280,000. Do you know what trans you have 4r70w or 4r100?

Try reposting in the towing section. You will get a lot more advice.

It'll 'move' it, but it won't be much fun and you will become very familiar with the term "pedal to the metal"....

A couple of pulls, fine.... But, if it's going to be a weekly thing, or even monthly thing, then wear and tear will catch up with you pretty fast....

If you can stick to around #6000 total trailer weight, then you'll be better off, but that trailer is gonna be pretty heavy, even before you put the Cheby in it, so.........?????

Good luck!

Dry Weight of the trailer is 3441 lbs and the car can't weigh more then 3500 lbs. GVWR is 7015 lbs.

Check my reply to your post in the towing section. You need to determine the tow rating, not the GVWR. GVWR is how much just the truck can weigh fully loaded.

The 'tow rating' will say he can go to about #8000.... But, that's just a 'tow rating' and means nothing when you actually weigh everything....

What I mean is, my truck has a 'tow rating' of #7700.... Great, but in the real world, my truck goes over it's GVWR of only #6250 with a little #5000 TT... So, I'm technically overweight with a #5000 TT!

Anyway, I think what "steady" quoted as his weights would be what the trailer's GVW would be (#3441 trailer and #3500 car for a total load of #6941 on a trailer that has a GVWR of #7015)

Now, if he meant the trucks GVWR is #7015, then that would be incorrect..... but, I don't think that was a 1999 GVWR for a regular F150.... All I thought they had was #6050, #6250, #6500, #7700 (special payload package, 7 lug wheels, etc...)

I don't see a problem with moving it.... Might just take it's toll over time is all... Remember wind resistance is a mean thing too!

6500 GVWR is on my door sticker on the truck.

your calculations of #3441 (trailer weight) plus #3500 (car weight) for a total of #6941 is correct.

now this would not be towed every weekend just the occasional weeked car show and such and the odd little one an hour or two away.

before i buy the trailer i want to be sure i won't be hurting the truck.

i also have the Edge on the truck if that matters or not?

Have you read my reply in the towing section yet? Let's continue this discussion there - we still don't know the truck's towing rating. Off the top of my head, you SHOULD be okay but we need to see how close you are to the rating.

I tow a 21ft boat all the time with my 97 F150 4.6 with 250K. I am not sure of the weight(I'm sure its less than your setup) but at low speeds the weight does not seem to be an issue. The air flow at high speeds really kills me. It takes full throttle to hit 70 on I75 and a tank of gas.
