Blew the head gasket

Looks like the head gasket went - what do you think ?

How long can I go before I should change it?

Runs fine ... I haven't checked the compression yet..

I dont see anything wrong... that is a pretty common problem with the stock headgaskets, they just leak a little oil. Mine do that sometimes, not all the time.

Hey jbrew you getting any coolant in the engine?
It doesn't look to terrible.I would run it unless it's leaking coolant in the oil.
I can see a damp spot on mine also but they don't drip or anything
This is a good time for you to do the PI head swap

No coolent in the oil - oil always looks new when I check it - still doesnt use any between changes . I compression checked it in 2001 and recorded it in the manual - The last check this past winter , it hasen't changed - to close in the numbers to say theres a significant difference . It's been a good motor and used that Castrol 3w 30 most of its life. I ran a case of Amsoil thru her once - only because it was a gift .. Who gets oil as a present ? ME - Hey it's better than a box of rocks

Thanx , I'm not that worried about then..I'm trying to hold out until I aquire another set of heads and headers to them both at the same time..

Agreed ! 219,000 here - Castrol + Motorcraft Filter every 3000 miles

I swapped out a motor (3.8L) in a Windstar a couple years ago for a woman. The Woman admitted that she never changed the oil

The van had 60,000 miles before it blew a nut - What happen was it stopped cycleing oil - period. The pickup screen totally plugged up - there wasn't even a pin hole showing..

Sad thing is , I told her the oil has to be changed , she replied - that's a mans job, ieyiyiii. Well , I told she better get one of those ... I know she still doesn't change her oil and I doubt she's had very much luck with men - she could scare hungry dogs off a meatwagon - no problem...

Start soaking with Mouse Milk. I work on aircraft and I use it all the time on exhaust bolts that have the same problem. I use MAC Straight Flute Screw Extractor Set 5663ES only the straight and tap it with a hammer and it forms a square inside the drilled hole. It usually comes out easy. If you do not use the straight and it brakes you will have fun getting it out.

Nah , just the exhaust - liquid welding the joints , to many leaks - Mann , I wish I had a set of long tubes (headers) now , It would be perfect timing. There still $900 away - I have to use the truck so i can make some money , so this is a temp fix . I should run my exhaust up to carquest - they let me use there sh^t in the back - I could just weld here up.

Scew it, I'll do it up right this winter when I do the head and headers..That liquid weld is good for only 700 degrees - hope it holds out that long - it's clamped as - well..

Mouse Milk ? Is that slang for something? Yeah , I need a good extractor set and Tap & Die as-well.

MAC tools

I'm praying if I get her wire wheeled good on each side of the broken bolt - apply heat and use a pair of vise grips on what's left it will come out . I'm not betting on it tho - prolly have to drill it..
