dont touch those flange bolts. those things break youll be there all day drilling them out. i cant imagine a mechanic charging you that much. everything is already removed so... better to realize you are over your head in a repair than making it 10 times worse and paying 10 times more.

thats true - I took a chance AFTER I busted the flang bolts - both sides ^$@#@###!!!!!!

My manifold bolts looked to fused but they came right out because they where stainless - or I was just lucky as hell..

New manifolds are 20 bucks on eBay...

I should of took some picks of mine - I had to wire wheel the hell out of them so I could get a 13mm socket on the nut. Well the nut doesn't come loose - the stud does.
They came out easy - threads were spotless. I had to use two universals to get the bottoms out over the frame rail. I'm not sure if there stainless , they might be aluminum. Without cleaning the threads , they threaded back in by hand before they were torqued to 250 inch lbs..

Could be that yours are the same way, just a thought

Those flange bolts are a biatch!! Even on the bench it took a freakin whole day drilling and retapping - I won't do that again. I broke drill bits , easy-outs , you name it trying to get those suckers before finally succeeding - With two propane torches of MAP gas , I heated it enough so that it could be penentrated - had to use a damn hammer drill - no good bits left..

I'm right most of the time

Yeah , those bottoms look worse then the are , one universal dips down over the frame rail while the other directs to the nut - I used an impact and impact universals as well - Mac & BluePoint + John Deer extensions - yeah , you need that combo lol

Haahaaaha - That's just the flange bolts buddy

They were a nightmare!!

I had the truck up in the air 3 feet..

All I was doing is taking my cats out , clamping and liquid welding a 45 degree angle on both sides along with a straight pipe..

Just temporary , my cats fell apart inside..I'm saving up the greenbacks for headers and maggy cats..

Yeah , Those jack stands can slip a notch once in awhile - that will scare the sh^t out of yuh if your underneith - well , it will at least make you spot a little lol - had tuh check my shorts after that one..

Doesn't matter 2 - 3 ton stands , they slip when they don't engage properly and theres no way to check..

I shake the truck after she's positioned - I guess that's the best way and I have two hydro jacks positioned under the rear pig and centered in front for saftey - most of the time..

Don't worry about studs - any /all auto suppliers carry those , even Murrays and Auto Zone. Yeah , there pretty cheap on eBay and easy to find.. -

your right 2-3 ton stand doesnt matter.i was doing oil pan on my dakota. luckily i had the truck itself on the steel ramps. i dropped the front axle, the stand kicked out and axle comes slamming down. i just had goten out of there like 10 seconds before. scared the **** out of me to say the least. ive seen those electric lifts that look like a big pallet jack advertised on spikes poweblock. you can supposedly run them off 110 volt house power.

Whoops scratch what I said about the studs above Scott - I think your refering to the manifold to head studs, infact , I'm sure of it .

I was thinking about the flange studs - my bad ..

I bet you can find the ones your refering to online or an auto supplier should be able to order them up for yuh..
