P0308 Jbrew

i threw a P0308 codee the other day, and my truck has been running rough for a long time, it lacks an extreme amount of power, especially after engine is warm and under light load. my acceleration has gotten very poor and it shifts irregularly now when it is misfiring. i have already changed all the plugs to bosch +4's which with teh research ive done on here was a bad decision, but i believe the code is being thrown due to a bad coil on the very rear plug on pass. side. i know JBREW has run into this. what do you guys think?

Pfft, that Jbrew dunno nuttin!

That code is a misfire on your #8 cylinder, which is the very back cylinder on the DRIVERS side if Im not mistaken...

Pull the plug and check it out, but my guess is also a coil.

yeah thanks man, i gotta make sure its the driver side or pass side. i have a feeling its the coil just when i replace the spark plugs the problem went away for a week or so and then it started running poor again. So cyl. 8 is driver side?

PFFT! Bartaks truck broke , so whats he do ?

Buys a new one

Prolly looked up one of my old posts to figure out what PO308 means

But yeah , it's the coil - make sure it's not getting wet from road water when you drive her.. You might have lost that shield attached to the inner fenderwell - if so , eight will get hit with water..

That ones spent ..Global sells them for $12 a piece and they all have a one year warranty..

BTW - Hows she runnin Bartak ?

HELLO and welcome to the F150online gameshow...todays winning question....Is it easier to change the spark plugs or buy a new truck???

Bartak1: "Uhhh, Id have to go with 'buy a new truck' on that one Bob!

"DING DING DING, AND WE HAVE A WINNAR!!"

Thats how it went in my head anyway lol.

Hows it running? Well...it runs I guess It might have a little more get up and go than my ol 'rubberband' 4.6, but it sure the heck doesnt seem like it. They have one he!! of a lazy **** computer program, I about fall asleep driving it...torque managment sucks I actually kinda wish I woulda stayed with a pre04 model. I try not to think about my '99' or else I get a little teary eyed lol.

Im sure this truck will grow on me just like my other one though

Hows your truck doin?

Yeah , give it some time , oh and "Bob" retired

Mines running like sh^t right now - I f'ed wid to much and screwed it up -

I removed the rear cats and replaced with a pipe , it ran awsesome then and even sounded like a GT when gettin on it.

Well , then I turned around and gutted my front two cats and now it running like chit - I get all kinds of drone , no low end at all and it's loud as hell

So , I need some maggie cats for it now to get back what I lost. Freakin shouldn't have messed with the front cats darnit!!

Live and learne..

BTW - never did get a check engine light after doin all that..

That sucks about the truck. At least you get some nice new shiny Magnaflows though

Always sucks when ya think whoever designed the truck doesnt know anything, so you 'improve' it and #(*$ it up Yeah, I do that a lot

Aint that the truth and I think about that all the time when I try to improve the way she runs . I removed the rears and that was an improvement - prolly because they where somewhat plugged up - I thought fronts might be.

So I thru the 3/4 " auger bit in the Milwaukee and strapped a shop vac to my wrist and cleaned them out real quick - Hey it works

I have the magnalow 24" muffler installed , I found the cats for $67 a piece at the peddler and I 'm ordering those ..

Haha, whatever works I always wanted to gut the back cats on my 99 too, I think they might have been a little plugged. Oh well, not my problem anymore

Thats a pretty good price on those cats. I considered redoing my whole exhaust with two Maggy cats and all new mandrel pipe from the cats back...Im to cheap though. Maybe once they get some miles on them I will swap em out though.

Ive always wanted to try out a set of those for myself. My parents had a Tahoe with a set of those on it and it rode awsome.

My short wheelbase makes my truck jump and bounce around like crazy on washboardy and holey roads...some good shocks would def. help it out.

I hear that Bilstien is making a set of shocks that will raise my front end 2 inches. I would love a set of those, but they are $$$$.
