Wrech Light, Engine Light, and ABS light. 04 4.6L
My truck goes into "Limited Power" mode and the Wrench, engine, and ABS lights all come on. computer showed that my ECT sensor was showing 299* (degrees)
has anyone ever heard of this?
2004
XLT
4.6L
102K miles
373 gearing (stock option)
Exhaust was cut off after cats the day of purchase
truck is driven hard and when it moves it hauls 2 sport bikes, prolly 50k of the miles has been with a 800-100 # load in the bed.
other than that nothing unusual, no mods or chips or anything.
any thoughts?
bad sensor or something to worry about?
"limited power" mode is basically pulling the rev limiter back to 3,500 and making it hard to hold speed, if i let off the gas just alittle is will sputter and sound like a big rigs engine brake. almost like its just plain downshifting on me but its not. runs fine as long as i'm on the gas and under 3,500 rpm. and my cruise control also goes out when the lights come one and it does this.

My '99 5.4L has a feature where if the engine gets too hot, it cuts out 4 of the cylinders, and has those pump air through the engine. If it continues to get hot, it shuts down automatically. Its a fail safe for your engine to prevent it from becoming so hot that permanent damage occurs.
It could be that.. check out your owners manual and check for the same thing

all gauges show normal: oil, temp, bat. all show normal levels.
