Several engines will ping whenever giving the throttle a quick push to the floor. The computer system takes a couple of milli-seconds to adjust the timing to the signals it receives. This is normal. This slight time of ping is harmless as long as it goes away during computer adjustment.

if you put better gas in it, it wont do that, and you will have more power because the computer wont retard the timing.

I have the opposite problem. My 93' 302 XLT pings worst when the transmission goes from 2nd to 3rd. However if I give it a lot more throttle the pinging stops. I have to burn premium gas and it still pings some. So far I have replaced the plugs but other than that have done nothing else.
