Q's about oil

Q's about oil

Does anybody not run the 5W-20 that Ford recommends ( at least thats what they recommend in my owners manual) because i've always used 10W-30 valvoline. plus i couldn't find a case of the 5W at my local auto store. anybody think there will ba any problems with running 10W-30

You may get away with 10W-30 during the summer, but I still don't think it's worth the risk of having oiling problems. Your fuel mileage is likely to suffer some.

You can't find the Motorcraft 5W-20 at the local Wally world? They have a hard time keeping it on the shelf in one of the stores here, but it has always shown up eventually.

Yep, they also have it in the 5 quart bottles now.

Your engine calls for Ford spec 930 oil. The only oils that meet this spec are 5W20. Use a non-spec oil at your own risk. 5W20 that meets 930 spec of all different types and brands are widely available at Walmart, Advance Auto Parts and Auto Zone.
