Same lubricity test: Mobil 1 vs. Leading edge oil and oil additive (videos 1-6)

The only problem I have with Leading Edge synthetic motor oil is that first video claims that they are the ONLY ones who add moly to their stuff...BS. I emailed them on that too. The tech support guy is recovering from a kidney transplant. He did email me and he seems to be very nice.

another video, MOTOR LATTE looks good

Here's another video using the Timpken tester. Royal purple lasted all they way to 1000 pounds on the bearing before it locked up.

But the Motor Latte stuff bottomed out the scale to over 2500 pounds, even 3000 pounds, and yet, never locked up. I think it was added to the Havoline oil.

I've used Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec in 4 Ford trucks, a Mustang GT, and a Taurus SHO. After the warranty expired each vehicle went on a 15,000 mile oil change schedule with a new filter and quart of oil every 5,000 miles. I've put at least 150,000 miles on 3 of the trucks and have never had any engine problems or oil burning. The synthetic is especially nice in cold Maine winters. When you start the engine the oil pressure comes up NOW.

PS: When Mobil 1 first hit the market, years ago, they recommended a 25,000 mile oil change frequency.

I've bear hunted in Maine and the guys told me it gets pretty darn cold there. Please do not take my post as a bash on Mobil 1. It isn't. Usually when I post materials like that it is informational only and the reader is to take from it what they wish.

That said, with the price of Mobil 1 up to $5.98/quart at Walmart, I'd rather spend the extra .52 cents and get RP.

Although, I did notice yesterday, the Middletown store has REDUCED the price of both the Mobil 1, Mobil 1 Truck and SUV, and the Extended Performance oils in the 5 qt. containers.

Last week they were $23 for the regular, and $29 for EP. Now they are priced at $19 and $26 respectively!

v. intr. (yōōs, yōōst)
Used in the past tense followed by to in order to indicate a former state, habitual practice, or custom: Mail service used to be faster.
Nice try, tnf150guy. If you are going to play grammar police, you had better know that you are right. Don't we have better things to do here?
