Are you sute it's the fan clutcn, not the serpentine belt ?
You will need a biiiiiiiiiiiiiig breaker bar to break loose the clutch nut. Rent one from Advance or Autozone.
If you are going that far, have you considered E-fans ?

Less parasitic drag on the engine, about a 20 hp gain.
Of course,the e-fans are not cheap,about $450-$500.
Better ac functioning(more airflow across condenser at idle).

Uhm,

I just put efans on my 03 Expedition. On the fan clutch nut, you don't need a big breaker bar. You can rent the set of wrenches which span the water pump bolts and fit the fan nut from Autozone. The wrenches needed are around 56-58mm and are made from flat bar steel. I put some PB blaster on the nut before I got the wrenches. Took very little effort to get the nut loose after that.

The efans were from FAL, kit # 295 (a universal fit - an almost univeral fit on the radiator of the 03 Ex, but I digress). The kit was 374 delivered from Amazon.com. They may have the right one to fit your truck. Check them out.

As for improvement, I did it to help mpgs. I am almost done with the first tank of gas after install. Not sure I see much improvement, but its early yet. Some improvement in throttle response. I actually noticed better accerlation while driving with the AC on. Before the efans, the AC just killed acceleration.

Putting in the "universal' kit was aweful. Had to get a friend to help me make custom brakets galore, cut the fan shroud etc.

Anyhow, you can get the mech fan off no problem. You just need something to go around the water pump bolts and something to grab the fan nut.

Before you run out & buy anything, TEST the clutch by the procedure described in this thread.

I picked mine up at autozone here in spring texas for $54.
Its a loud whirring/howling noise you get at WOT when the clutch is going out. Not a squealing. Thats a belt noise.
